Overview
Pembina U.S. Corporation is recruiting for a Chemist to be based at the Aux Sable NGL Extraction and Fractionation Facility located in Morris (Channahon), Illinois. Aux Sable facilities are operated by Pembina. This position reports to the Lead, Lab in the Natural Gas Liquids business unit (NBU) part of Pembina’s Facilities division. The Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit is involved in the fractionation, storage and distribution of our specification products throughout North America.
Responsibilities
Applies knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis methods to support the lab at Aux Sable’s natural gas liquids extraction and fractionation plant in Channahon. Activities include running sample analysis on hydrocarbon, water and caustic samples, maintaining lab instrumentation and sample containers, recording and reporting results, and certifying product for sale.
- Support 365-day operation of Aux Sable’s lab
- Run composition and contaminant analysis to certify LPG products
- Communicate with Operations and Engineering to identify plant issues
- Collect and present data from onsite and offsite testing
- Troubleshoot instrument failures and inconsistent results
- Run titrations on liquid samples to ensure treating systems are working
- Maintain equipment records for instruments and sample containers
- Repair or replace faulty or worn out sample valves
Job Qualifications
This position requires knowledge and background with the following:
- 1 to 5 years of lab experience with preference for experience in the hydrocarbon field
- Knowledge base of the following is preferred: gas chromatography, titrations, TSS analysis, and sample disposal
- Knowledge and experience using a LIMS program is preferred
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university is preferred
- Demonstrated character and understanding of occupational and process safety
- Ability to work independently is required
- Valid Driver’s license required
- Must be legally authorized to work full time in the US without sponsorship.
